Working primarily out of his studio in Eygelshoven, Alex Elbers approaches the surface of a painting as a field of presence rather than a window. Through a focused material process of cutting, layering, and reassembling canvas, he creates works that hold both tension and stillness. His visual language emphasizes texture, light, and form, inviting the viewer into a space that is at once intimate and expansive. The material itself becomes the subject, charged, contemplative, and fully alive.
